MFFU growth study — which account type to buy for the next 18 months

Four MFFU campaigns (MFFU Rapid 50K, MFFU Rapid 150K, MFFU Pro 50K, MFFU Pro 150K) run as separate conveyors under Arman's growth policy on the 2025-01-02 → 2026-07-08 regime, with 92 method × policy arms per stress and 3 stresses. Every number on this page is read from mffu_growth_summary.json at build time — nothing is hand-typed.

1 · Headline verdict — best stable arm per campaign

Ranked on net_h12 median (every start whose 12 months close inside the window — the only like-for-like sample in the artifact). Lottery cells are excluded from ranking per the artifact's own rule: “treat any cell with funded_breach_rate >= 0.95 as a LOTTERY cell: its campaign net is a draw over funded start days, not a measurement of the arm. Rank on cells below that line, using EACH STRESS'S OWN rate — lottery status is per CELL, not per arm, and a worse book kills more accounts, so an arm can be stable at base and a lottery under slippage (and, less often, the reverse). A PAIRED base-vs-slippage delta additionally requires BOTH sides stable.” — 30 of 92 arms are excluded on the base book set, and a different 35 are excluded on the slippage book set (8 demoted, 3 admitted — see §2.5), which is why each card shows both: a same-arm re-read (the only honest paired number) and the slippage pick, re-picked from its own pool. The slippage_1tick counterpart of the same arm sits inside each card: it is not a footnote, it is half the decision.

Before you read a single median above — the cohorts are not independent samples

COHORTS ARE NOT INDEPENDENT SAMPLES, and the effective sample size is far below the printed n. The 133 h12 cohorts all start inside a single ~6.2-month window (2025-01-02 to 2025-07-09) and each runs 12 months, so they overlap almost completely and are driven by the same handful of market episodes. A median over 133 such windows is closer to one observation with a smoothing kernel than to 133 draws, and pct_net_positive is consequently near-binary. Never quote a confidence interval off these counts, and do not treat a 133-cohort median as statistically resolved.

Practical consequence for this page: treat every median as one smoothed observation with a ±2% noise floor (THE >= 0). Differences smaller than that are not decision-grade under any stress, which is why the rankings below are shown as bands rather than winners, and why the % cohorts net-positive column is a sign test rather than a dispersion measure.

Cross-campaign ordering — as computed by the artifact

best STABLE arm per campaign (funded_breach_rate < 0.95), h12 median net, this build's numbers. The head-to-head reads below are the artifact's own cross_campaign_ordering field, re-picked per stress (the best stable arm under slippage is not always the best stable arm on base), not arithmetic done on this page. The page independently recomputes the same picks and the build fails if they disagree.

The headline read

these comparisons are DECIDED AT BASE BUT TIED under slippage (gap inside the +/-2% conveyor noise floor, so the winner is not resolvable): pro150 vs rapid150. Do not report a plan choice from the base arm alone.

2 · The decision reads

2.1 · 150K vs 50K within each family, and Rapid vs Pro at each size

The head-to-head table sits in the verdict section above, because pro150 vs rapid150 collapsing to a tie under slippage is a headline-level fact, not a supporting one. What follows is the arm-level detail behind it. Every comparison pairs two campaigns' best stable arms — different method arms on each side — so it is a package comparison (size, contract cap, split, price and the sweep that goes with them), never an isolated account-size effect, and every gap must clear the ±2% floor before it means anything.

Cross-campaign ordering by best stable arm is the same under base and under slippage: base ranks 1. MFFU Pro 150K · 2. MFFU Rapid 150K · 3. MFFU Rapid 50K · 4. MFFU Pro 50K; slippage_1tick ranks 1. MFFU Pro 150K · 2. MFFU Rapid 150K · 3. MFFU Rapid 50K · 4. MFFU Pro 50K. Inside MFFU Pro 50K the winning payout policy is buffer_first on base and greedy under slippage — it FLIPS. Inside MFFU Pro 150K the winning payout policy is streak_break on base and greedy under slippage — it FLIPS. The artifact is explicit that campaign-level slippage is not a scalar haircut on the base result, so read the slippage cells rather than discounting the base ones (see caveats).

2.2 · The same picks at 6, 12 and 18 months

The head-to-head above is a twelve-month read, because that is the artifact's only like-for-like sample. Here are the same two picks per campaign at all three horizons. The 6-month column is the honest short-commitment number — it is ramp-dominated (buy an eval, pass it, get funded, then earn to payout eligibility, all before any cash exists), so it is structurally far below the 12-month figure and the ratio between them carries no meaning. The 18-month column is greyed because it is not a usable statistic (n=5 — early-2025 starts only, indicative): it survives only a handful of start days and the artifact reports it for completeness only.

2.3 · The top-3 band per campaign — never a single winner

The artifact publishes a band, not a pick: THE >= 0.95 RULE IS NOT SUFFICIENT ON ITS OWN. Stable cells invert too, by ~1-2% (see cells_better_under_slippage rows with funded_breach_rate < 0.95): the same conveyor resampling that produces the large lottery swings has a small-amplitude version everywhere, because a one-day shift in a pass date resamples funded start days on ANY arm. Consequence for the report: differences smaller than a few percent between arms — under any stress — are NOT decision-grade. Show a top-3 band (see stable_top3), never a single winner separated from second place by ~2%.

2.5 · What the slippage arm does to the grid

85 of 92 campaign cells are WORSE under slippage and 7 are BETTER. 4 of those involve a LOTTERY cell on at least one side (funded_breach_rate >= 0.95; see lottery_side) and invert by a large margin; 3 are stable on BOTH sides and invert by only ~1-2%. Neither is a benefit of slippage: the first is a resampling draw, the second is resampling NOISE. Across the 54 cells that are stable on BOTH sides — the only cells a paired base-vs-slippage read is legitimate on — the campaign-level median slippage delta is -45.4% (p25 -57.4%, p75 -25.1%) — around twice the ~22% book-level haircut, because a worse book also breaches more funded accounts and a breached account stops earning while its replacement pays fees to re-qualify. Note that this pool is smaller than the base-stable pool: the both-sides-stable requirement is what the 8 demoted cells below fall out of.

the conveyor only ever opens ~20 funded accounts per cohort, and WHICH start days those are is set by eval pass dates. A one-day shift in a pass date swaps one funded start day for another with a materially different life. On arms where nearly every funded account dies (funded_breach_rate ~1.0) that draw dominates the ~22% book haircut. This is engine.js's documented campaign caveat: 'per CAMPAIGN no per-account ordering survives ... never assert that one bound dominates a campaign result.'

the transform is strictly worse per account: over all 390 start days of fund_rapid150K_r2400c100 (the largest campaign inversion) slip books breach on the SAME days and pay strictly less gross. The campaign inversion does not come from the account model.

7 cells score higher under slippage — 4 of them carry a lottery cell on at least one side and invert by a large margin, and 3 are stable on both sides and invert by only ~1–2%. The second group is exactly why the ±2% floor exists: THE RESAMPLING EFFECT HAS TWO AMPLITUDES, and only the large one is excluded by a breach-rate rule. On arms where nearly every funded account dies (funded_breach_rate >= 0.95) the draw dominates the book haircut and campaign net swings by multiples — those cells are LOTTERY cells and must not be ranked. But STABLE cells resample too, and invert by ~1-2%. So a NOISE FLOOR of about +/-2% applies to every arm-vs-arm comparison in this study, under every stress. Report a top-3 band (slippage_check.stable_top3), never a single winner separated from second place by ~2%.

Source: summary.slippage_check.cells_better_under_slippage — a resampling artifact of the conveyor, not a benefit of slippage. Lottery status is evaluated per stress, so a row can be a lottery cell on one side only; the pair-max column is what disqualifies a row from any PAIRED read.

The filter working — cells that change lottery status between the stresses

Because a worse book kills more accounts, the ≥95.0% rule does not select the same set of cells on both book sets. 8 cells are rankable on base but demoted to lottery under slippage, and 3 go the other way and are admitted to the slippage ranking. This is why the slippage-side winner on this page is re-picked from its own pool rather than being “the base winner, re-read”.

Source: summary.slippage_check.lottery_reclassification. lottery status is a property of the CELL. A worse book kills more accounts, so most reclassification runs base-stable -> slip-lottery; the reverse happens when a slightly different resampling keeps more accounts alive.

2.6 · What does not survive: winners_half

Halving every winning trade takes every single one of the 92 arms negative — zero survivors. The least-bad arm in the whole grid under that stress is rapid50 eval $1,600 · cap 50funded $400 · cap 50daily_greedy at −$6,004 h12 median against $4,266 of fees. There is no MFFU account type that is a good buy if the method's winners come in at half size; the choice on this page is conditional on the edge surviving at roughly its measured strength.

3 · Full arm tables — method arm × policy arm × stress

Every arm, every stress. Rows are ordered by base h12 median descending inside each campaign, with each arm's stress rows directly under it. Each of the m6 / m12 / m18 boxes carries its own n because they are true elapsed-month horizons computed on different cohort sets: m6 n=263, m12 n=133, m18 n=5. The m18 column is greyed on purpose — the artifact reports it for completeness only and states it is not a usable statistic; it never appears in a headline on this page. The two "% +" columns are different samples: the % h12 + column is a near-binary sign test over the like-for-like h12 set, and % full + is the same statistic over the harsher full-horizon set that includes cohorts truncated to a month or two. Dispersion lives in the p25/p75 column, not in either percentage.

READ THE COHORT COUNTS. net_at.m6 / m12 / m18 are computed on DIFFERENT cohort sets by TRUE elapsed-month eligibility: n = 263 / 133 / 5. The m18 box survives only five start days and is reported for completeness only — it is not a usable statistic. Comparing m18 against m12 across arms is the marginal-median trap; net_h12 (identical to the m12 box) is the like-for-like ranking sample.

4 · The Pro mechanics — live transition, the three policy arms, the 60% carve-out

The Pro plans carry a mechanic the Rapid plans do not: a run of consecutive payouts promotes the account to live and therefore removes it from the sim fleet. The artifact records the consequence as: “A Pro live transition RETIRES the account from the simulation. The live-account upside is never simulated; forgone_profit records the unpaid sim profit left behind.” So on the Pro arms a “win” can end the account inside the simulation, and the number to watch beside net is live_transitions plus the unpaid profit it leaves behind. The payout clock itself is modelled as: “Pro's 14-day payout clock is re-anchored to each payout date (the firm's "next payout 14 days after the last"), and to the account's first funded trade before the first payout. Weekends and holidays count.”

Rule risk — pro/streak_break

RULE RISK — deliberately skipping a payout cycle to avoid the live transition depends on an UNVERIFIED reading of '3 consecutive payouts'. Ask MFFU before acting on this arm.

Modelled as: "3 consecutive payouts" streak semantics are UNVERIFIED with the firm. Modelled as: a 14-day window that opens and goes unpaid — for any reason, including insufficient profit — resets the count. The streak_break arm depends entirely on that reading and carries a RULE-RISK flag.

The 60% pre-buffer carve-out, including its non-monotonicity

The 60% pre-buffer carve-out is applied literally: below the buffer balance a request is 60% of unpaid profit, at or above it the request is the full skim down to the buffer. The rule is NOT monotone in profit (50K: $2,000 profit pays $1,200; $2,500 profit pays nothing) — that discontinuity is MFFU's, not a modelling artifact.

Pro funded trail-lock at start+$100 is ASSUMED from the MFFU standard; the help centre does not state it for the Pro sim-funded stage.

MINI-HYBRID COMMISSION FOOTNOTE NOT COMPUTED (mffu_books_NOTES.md §5). The Pro funded books (c55 / c165) require minis to realise their size, and a mini replaces 10 micros, so real commissions would be LOWER than modelled. PnL here charges the engine's conservative $0.74/side micro rate on every contract, so these numbers are commission-pessimistic on the Pro arms. Quantifying it needs a mini commission rate nobody has specified; it is left uncomputed rather than invented.

5 · Growth policy — Arman's conveyor

  • Start: 1 eval.
  • Ratchet: +1 eval target on every terminal event (eval pass, eval breach, funded breach, Pro live-transition retirement)
  • Eval cap: 5 concurrent evals (Arman's own cap).
  • Funded caps: MFFU Rapid 50K 5 · MFFU Rapid 150K 3 · MFFU Pro 50K 5 · MFFU Pro 150K 3.
  • Global cap: 10 accounts total (evals + funded).
  • Dormancy: a passed eval queues as DORMANT and is promoted oldest-pass-first when a funded seat frees; conservation is asserted per cohort

The per-month conveyor series (month, evals_active, funded_active, dormant_queue, cum_fees, cum_payouts_net_to_trader, payouts, live_transitions, breaches) live in the GRID file only — the summary companion carries the per-arm boxes, so the month-by-month occupancy curve is not renderable from this artifact.

7 · Read this before acting on any number above

Every item below is reproduced verbatim from the artifact's own 26-item assumption list. Nothing is paraphrased and nothing is omitted.

  1. Pro funded trail-lock at start+$100 is ASSUMED from the MFFU standard; the help centre does not state it for the Pro sim-funded stage.
  2. "3 consecutive payouts" streak semantics are UNVERIFIED with the firm. Modelled as: a 14-day window that opens and goes unpaid — for any reason, including insufficient profit — resets the count. The streak_break arm depends entirely on that reading and carries a RULE-RISK flag.
  3. Pro's 14-day payout clock is re-anchored to each payout date (the firm's "next payout 14 days after the last"), and to the account's first funded trade before the first payout. Weekends and holidays count.
  5. A Pro live transition RETIRES the account from the simulation. The live-account upside is never simulated; forgone_profit records the unpaid sim profit left behind.
  6. Prices assume the standing 50%-off '300K' coupon. $0 activation, $0 reset.
  7. Breach convention: an account dies when INTRA-TRADE equity touches the floor on both stages (EOD describes when the floor MOVES, not when it breaks) — the house convention inherited from the parity-anchored LucidPro preset.
  8. Rapid funded runs the MEASURED 1m intraday path (schema 4): every point may lift the floor and every point is tested against it, sub-minute ambiguity resolved AGAINST the trader.
  9. Touch-fill model, zero net slippage, $0.74/side commissions — an optimistic ceiling, not a promise.
  10. NOT TV-VERIFIED (user waiver 2026-07-31). No Pine port reproduces an MFFU campaign.
  11. The 2025-01-02..2026-07-08 window is not a holdout — method selection saw it.
  14. net_full mixes TRUNCATED horizons: a June-2026 start runs one month. It is a per-cohort total, never a rate. Rank arms on net_h12, and read net_full only alongside the cohort's `truncated` flag in the grid.
  15. Contract caps are account-rule assumptions with NO liquidity model: a 165-lot micro-equivalent MES fill is assumed as clean as a 20-lot one. That is the single most optimistic assumption behind the 150K arms, and the 150K arms are exactly where the headline numbers land.
  16. Funded books bake Arman's PERSONAL daily_stop_r = 2.0 at every sizing, so a $2,400-risk arm can lose $4,800 in a day — more than the 150K $4,500 MLL. Aggressive 150K arms are EXPECTED to breach; that is the sweep. Confirmed in --test [7]: both drawdown types kill such a day on day 1 — Rapid inside the measured intraday path walk, Pro at the wire-trough test.
  17. BREACH BASIS is stricter here than the Python reference. lucid_daily_sim.eval_taper_walk's eod_trail branch tests only the REALIZED balance after each trade plus the EOD close; this runner also tests the wire trough intra-trade on BOTH stages (engine.js breach_check "trough", the house convention). A day that troughs through the floor and closes back above it kills the account here and survives there. The divergence is conservative, never optimistic.
  18. The 50% eval consistency rule is enforced in the RUNNER, not the books (mffu_books_NOTES.md §3): sizing raises the taper goal to max(target, bestDay/0.50) while the gate binds, and a pass additionally requires bestDay <= 0.50 x profit, with the account continuing to trade — and still able to breach — until it complies. See the consistency_walk block for the regression-guard counts.
  19. SLIPPAGE ARM IS A POST-HOC TRANSFORM, NOT AN ENGINE RE-RUN (mffu_books_NOTES.md §7). TRADE SELECTION IS UNCHANGED: real 1-tick slippage would also move when the funded books' daily_stop_r = 2.0 personal day stop fires, and therefore WHICH TRADES EXIST. The arm is understated by that amount; the direction of the bias is unknown and its size unmeasured. If this arm becomes decision-critical, the honest upgrade is an engine-native re-run via base_slip_ticks / extra_slip_ticks, which changes selection and requires fresh anchors.
  20. DO NOT APPROXIMATE THE SLIPPAGE ARM AS 0.78x BASE. Slippage worsens max EOD drawdown (rapid150 r2000: $18,849 -> $20,719), so more accounts breach and breach earlier — the campaign result is NOT a scaling of the base campaign even though the raw book net happens to fall ~22%. Read the slippage_1tick cells, never a multiplier on the base cells.
  21. Slippage here is a HAIRCUT, not a fill simulation: the underlying book still uses the optimistic touch-fill model and this adds a flat per-contract charge on top. Charge = 1 tick/side at $1.25: dollars_net -2x, path/equity_min/equity_max -1x (only the entry slip is paid while the position is open). entry/sl/contracts are unslipped, so no fill sits outside its bar and the eval taper picks the SAME contract counts.
  22. Against the Topstep maxrev precedent: that funded book lost 43.7% at the same 1 tick/side (break-even 2.29 ticks). These MFFU books are about twice as slippage-tolerant (~22%, break-even ~4.4 ticks). Different book, window and sizing — but the gap is real and should be reconciled in the report rather than left sitting.
  23. THE SLIPPAGE ARM IS NOT A ~22% HAIRCUT AT THE CAMPAIGN LEVEL. The BOOKS lose 20.9-22.9% of net (mffu_books_NOTES.md §7), but the CAMPAIGN loses a median 50% on stable cells (p25 -61%, p75 -29%) because a worse book also breaches more funded accounts, and a breached account stops earning while its replacement pays fees to re-qualify. Read slippage_check.
  24. CAMPAIGN-LEVEL SLIPPAGE IS NOT MONOTONE, and that is a property of the conveyor, not a bug. A cohort only ever opens ~20 funded accounts, and WHICH start days those are is decided by eval pass dates; a one-day shift in a pass date swaps one funded start day for another with a materially different life. Verified at the account layer: over all 390 start days of the worst-inverting book the slipped account breaches on the SAME days and pays strictly less, so the inversion is not in the account model.
  25. THE RESAMPLING EFFECT HAS TWO AMPLITUDES, and only the large one is excluded by a breach-rate rule.
Engine knob gaps recorded by the runner (5)
  • engine.js buffer_withdraw min_days counts QUALIFYING TRADING days; MFFU Pro's cycle is 14 CALENDAR days from the first funded trade. No knob expresses a calendar cycle -> implemented in mffu_lib.simFundedAccount.
  • engine.js max_request_frac caps EVERY request at a fraction of profit; MFFU Pro's 60% cap applies only while the buffer is uncleared -> implemented in mffu_lib.payoutDecision.
  • engine.js retireAfterPayouts counts TOTAL payouts and has no concept of an unpaid cycle, so it cannot express '3 CONSECUTIVE payouts' nor the deliberate streak-break arm -> implemented in mffu_lib.simFundedAccount.
  • program.growOn "terminal" steps the eval ratchet on eval pass, eval failure and funded death only — a chosen RETIREMENT (how a Pro live transition leaves the fleet) does not step it, and the spec requires it to. If engine.js is ever edited, the minimal change is to add the retirement branch to the same +1 the death branch takes (engine.js ~2423).
  • Everything else the study needs IS engine-expressible: the Rapid campaigns are reproduced bit-for-bit by simulateCampaign in --test, which is the warrant for the Pro numbers this engine cannot produce.

  • max_spend_trough — POSITIVE MAGNITUDE in dollars — the deepest cumulative cash shortfall the campaign ever ran (fees out, payouts in, starting from 0). 5,000 means the path demanded $5,000 of outside capital at its worst point; 0 means it never went negative. It is never negative and is not a signed balance.
  • pct_net_positive — percentage of the NET_H12 cohort set with net > 0 (the like-for-like ranking sample). pct_net_positive_full is the same statistic over the full-horizon set, which includes cohorts truncated to a month or two — a different and much harsher sample. WARNING: on the h12 basis this statistic is NEARLY BINARY (147 of 276 cells sit at exactly 100% and a large block at 0%), because the 133 h12 cohorts are heavily overlapping windows, not independent draws — see the cohort-overlap caveat. Read it as a sign test, not as a dispersion measure; dispersion lives in the p25/p75 of the box.
  • net_at — keyed by TRUE elapsed months: a cohort appears in box N only if addMonths(start, N) closes inside the data window, and its value is the conveyor net at that horizon date. Each box carries its own n and the boxes are DIFFERENT cohort sets.
  • net_full — per-cohort total over a horizon truncated by the data end (see the cohort's `truncated` flag) — a total, never a rate.
  • monthly — packed rows, see monthly_columns; emitted for the base stress only.
Slippage check in full

Neither is a benefit of slippage: the first is a resampling draw, the second is resampling NOISE.
  • account level — the transform is strictly worse per account: over all 390 start days of fund_rapid150K_r2400c100 (the largest campaign inversion) slip books breach on the SAME days and pay strictly less gross. The campaign inversion does not come from the account model.
  • mechanism — the conveyor only ever opens ~20 funded accounts per cohort, and WHICH start days those are is set by eval pass dates.
  • unrankable rule — treat any cell with funded_breach_rate >= 0.95 as a LOTTERY cell: its campaign net is a draw over funded start days, not a measurement of the arm. Rank on cells below that line, using EACH STRESS'S OWN rate — lottery status is per CELL, not per arm, and a worse book kills more accounts, so an arm can be stable at base and a lottery under slippage (and, less often, the reverse). A PAIRED base-vs-slippage delta additionally requires BOTH sides stable.
  • noise floor — THE >= 0.95 RULE IS NOT SUFFICIENT ON ITS OWN.
  • noise amplitude — ±2%
  • median delta on stable cells — n=54, median -45.4%, p25 -57.4%, p75 -25.1%
